On the first of November and after an “extra hour of sleep” (just kidding, I’m a mom!), I spent an afternoon with Janet Catherine Photo for my solo maternity session! We documented some incredible maternity memories, just me and my fourth little babe. While it was a brisk fall day and the wind was strong, we were able to capture these photos that give off more of a warm, summer vibe. Ironic that the weather reached the 70s multiple times this past week following the shoot. I guess I brought the heat, haha! We frolicked around Retzer Nature Center and caught a glimpse of how beautiful the park is in autumn.
Working with Janet was so fun! She knows how to make her clients feel comfortable and gorgeous during their entire session… While simultaneously creating absolute magic behind her lens. You can tell that she is passionate about delivering a jaw-dropping gallery. If you’d like to see more of her work or book a session for yourself or your family, you can find her on Instagram or check out her portfolio! You will not regret your decision to trust her with your special memories.
Why should you do a maternity session?
At one point or another in all four of my pregnancies, I’ve made a point of booking a session to have memories to look back on. You’d think that if you’ve done one maternity session then you’ve done them all, but that simply isn’t true. Each of my sessions has documented the miracle of growing my precious children, where I carried them beneath my heart before carrying them in my arms. Each set of images has been worth braving every cold temperature, strong breeze, early morning, and crazy request my photographers have had. There’s something really special about being able to watch your family grow over the years. Pictures have been an incredible investment as they are some of my most cherished possessions.
What should you wear for your maternity session?
My dress is from PinkBlush Maternity! Incredibly timeless if you ask me, and the chiffon really played nicely with the sunlight. I think it’s the perfect dress for us pregnant mamas who may be attending weddings and formal events, or who would simply like a more elegant piece for their maternity session! I’ve linked a few below, and personally feel that the forest green option would look wonderful for a Christmas party.

I went with a coral inspired palette, playing into the fall tones with gold and black accents between my jewelry and shoes. I’m incredibly pleased with how nicely everything came together!
PinkBlush Maternity has a number of options when it comes to finding flattering and fashionable outfits during pregnancy. Their line was a game changer for me when I discovered them during my second pregnancy. I can’t even tell you how many dresses I’ve purchased! Don’t break the bank finding yourself something to wear for your session, either! They often run special promotions and you can snag some pieces for almost 30% regularly. And don’t sleep on their clearance section, either!
